Turning the Radio Off

Sometimes I’ll turn the radio off when I drive. With difficult clients at work, I’ll remember that I’ve often acted the same way. If I’m working out I’ll tell myself I’ve looked forward for two days to these reps. —James, California

Candle

I start my day with a 20 minute candle.  It’s a tiny little candle that burns for 20 minutes, but it helps to center me. And I don’t watch a clock or check my phone. Also, I organize a lot of my life around the traditional church year including the observances of seasons such as advent and lent. Oh, and I have a book I’ve been working through called The Art of Living In Season. I think having rhythms to my day, my week and my year are so important. I could probably write a book on this topic because I believe in it so strongly! —Wendy, 54, Oregon

Examen Reflection

I do a variation of the Examen at night—so I have three questions: 1. Where did I feel most content, at peace, connected with God? 2. Where did I feel least content, etc.? 3. What's a question or idea I'm chewing on and want to revisit or integrate into life? —Taylor, 30, California
